What’s the schedule?
The Playing Big Workshop will run Tuesday, July 17 and Wednesday, July 18, 2018 with live sessions from 9:30 am – 1 pm Pacific each day. There will be an optional bonus session on Tuesday, July 17 from 1-2 pm Pacific – an informal time to meet in small groups with other participants for support and connection. Can I get recordings if I can’t attend the course calls live?
The program is designed to work whether you can attend live or not, and call recordings will be posted within 12 hours, as well as full transcripts. You can also attend one of our two days live and the other via recording, if that’s what your schedule necessitates. You will have access to the workshop membership site for three months following the event so you can revisit materials and/or go at your own pace. We will also provide a Dropbox link with all of the workshop materials in one easy-to-access folder that you can download for lifetime access.
What’s the investment?
You can register with one payment of $295. And good to note – alumnae of the Playing Big Foundations Workshop can apply this payment toward the tuition of the Playing Big Program or the Playing Big Facilitators Training so you will essentially receive an alum “credit” of $300 toward a future course.
I’m having technical trouble signing up.
No problem – we can help! Simply email
playingbig (at) taramohr (dot) com and we’ll get you all set up.
Will I get to know other women in the workshop?
Yes! Playing Big offers an opportunity to connect with women around the world who are interested in playing bigger on their own terms. During this workshop, you’ll learn from other women’s stories and learnings in our discussions and sharing. We’ll also be hosting an optional virtual meet-up during the two day period. Course participants will be in small groups via video conference and have this time for getting to know each other. If you are looking for a more intensive, ongoing community experience, we recommend you get started with the workshop this summer and then join our longer Playing Big program (April 2019) or Playing Big Facilitators Training (October 2018).
How is the Playing Big Foundations Workshop different from the Playing Big book?
The workshop is all about being live with Tara and a community of women, learning from seeing how Tara coaches you & others with the tools, and applying the learning through exercises and practices during our workshop sessions. Think of it as bringing the book alive, and being in a teaching/learning experience around them.
How is this workshop different from Tara’s main Playing Big course or her Facilitators Training?
Here’s how it works:
-
Playing Big Foundations Workshop: an immersive 2-day experience that goes deep into the Playing Big core foundations: Quieting Your Inner Critic and Discovering Your Inner Mentor.
-
Playing Big Program: a six month course that includes the foundational Inner Critic & Inner Mentor topics as well as ten additional modules to support your Playing Big.
-
The Playing Big Facilitators Training is for coaches, therapists, mentors, mangers, and educators who want in-depth training on our tools for their own journey as well as training in how to use it with clients, mentees or students.
And here’s some great news: if you take the Playing Big Foundations Workshop and would also like to take one of our other courses later on, your Playing Big Workshop tuition will be applied toward the cost of the later courses.

I work inside an organization or company. Is playing big mostly for entrepreneurs?
Not at all! One of the amazing things about this program is the mix of women entrepreneurs and women working inside organizations. In fact, in our recent session, we were an almost even mix – 49% entrepreneurs, 51% women working inside organizations!
The topics we cover in the Playing Big Foundations Workshop – quieting your inner critic and accessing your inner mentor – are transformational for women across all kinds of careers, including “encore” careers and job transitions. Here’s what some women who took a Playing Big program when working for organizations had to say:
I started Playing Big at the same time I moved into a corporate senior management role – a huge leap from the isolated desk research role that I had been in. I have been running into my own old habits turning into obstacles. I turn to the Playing Big lessons when I find a new struggle that I can’t resolve and the content leads me to look at situations in new ways, opening new solutions and opportunities. Playing Big has increased my confidence and effectiveness, while lowering my stress and worry. Perfectly delivered to help me grow into the leader that I have been asked to be. – Yvonne Juarez
I’ve experienced significant changes because of this program. I am able to put my learning, qualifications, and skills to best use because I communicate more clearly. I find that others are more clear about my role and contributions, which means they know when to come to me for input and when the request should go elsewhere. My profile is also growing in the industry, which is positive for the organization I work for. I manage my time better because I understand my role and worth, so delegate tasks more easily when appropriate. I also communicate more confidently with senior managers and with the people who report to me. I am generally more professional, happier, and putting energy into areas that align with the organization’s mission, as well as my own values. – Joelle Adams
I’m not sure…
I feel ambivalent about the very idea of “playing big.”
You are not alone. Many women share these mixed feelings about the notion of playing big. Many of us worry that playing big will mean leaving behind things we love — free time, or the quiet and simple parts of our lives. Many of us worry that playing bigger would mean we’d somehow stand out or stand apart from the people we love — and we don’t want that. Many of us feel fatigued by our culture’s need for everything to be big, bigger, biggest. We know that’s not sustainable for human beings or the planet. We don’t want to perpetuate that kind of thinking.
All of these ambivalences are very normal — and in my view, they are precisely the reason why women need a context and a journey to redefine and reclaim playing big for themselves — to find a playing big that is aligned with their values, allows them to stay in community and relationship, and that’s good for the earth, too.
In the Playing Big programs, each woman defines playing big on her own terms. For most, playing big does not mean owning an empire or getting overtaken by a drive toward success. Playing big means courageously going for your personal dreams and longings and having the positive impact your heart wants to have in the world.
I want to play bigger, but I already feel exhausted and overwhelmed, and I’m trying to do less in my life. How does this workshop fit with that?
In our approach, playing big isn’t about striving harder or doing more. It is about honestly accepting one’s true aspirations and callings and playing big in going for them. Because playing big leads to women being more aligned with their authentic selves, and more tapped into their passions, it generally creates more energy, less stress, and far less striving in women’s lives. It’s an alternative to perfectionistic go-go-going – a deeper path of self-actualization.
Honestly, I feel intimidated and nervous about signing up.
Rest assured – this is very common! Many women hear a voice in their head saying, “You won’t fit in with this crowd of women,” or “Who do you think you are?”
Here’s why: The part of you that loves perfectionism and the familiar, the part that keeps putting off playing big for just another couple years…? That part of you is shakin’ in its boots, knowing that signing up for a Playing Big program will mean shaking things up.
Signing up is a significant first step toward playing bigger. Fear and the inner critic will naturally come up.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll understand why the inner critic arises in these kinds of situations and what you can do to quiet its voice.
But for now, can you notice this scared and critical part of you but not take direction from it?
Let your aspirations, your passion, your hopes — not fear or the inner critic — be in charge of the decision of whether to sign up.
What if I don’t know how I want to play big?
That’s okay. These are foundational tools to use in life and work every day — no matter what your current situation. Some participants come into the workshop with a specific idea of what playing bigger looks like for them. Others aren’t sure, but find that the skills and tools we learn in the course allow them to play bigger in all areas of their lives and support them as their next passion or professional direction emerges.
I’m not sure if online learning would really work for me.
It’s a great question. Many of our past course participants have been surprised at how easy and engaging the online format is. Here are a few things to keep in mind: The workshop materials and sessions are always simple to access and very user-friendly. Our highly-skilled team is available to answer any questions and support you in navigating any new-to-you technologies. Last but not least, the advantages of a distance-learning approach are that you’ll connect with like-minded women from all over the world and in a way that works with your schedule.
What if I can’t attend the live sessions?
No problem! Within 12 hours, you’ll have access to a video recording, audio version, and (a few days later) written transcripts. Plus, all workshop materials are yours for life — so even if an unexpected change in your schedule happens, you can still get the full value of the program when you are ready.
What is your refund policy?
If your plans change prior to the workshop, you can request a full refund prior to Tuesday, July 10 (one week before the workshop begins). After July 10, if for some reason you aren’t able to participate, you can either transfer your tuition to a future session, or to another Playing Big program. If you attend the workshop and find it isn’t a fit for you, simply let us know during Day 1 of the program, and we will refund your tuition and cancel your participation for Day 2.
I’m just not sure.
Well, if you were my coaching client I’d ask you to:
- Check in with your body: How does the idea of registering feel in your body — good and exciting? Good but scary/exhilarating? Those are good signs.
- Notice what part of you is hesitant: Your inner wisdom? Listen up. Inner critic? Voice of fear? Not good voices to listen to. Question what they are saying. Especially question any voices telling you that you somehow don’t measure up to being in this group, or won’t be able to “do it right,” or that the time to do this has to be just right.
- Explore: Is there a particular fear or worry you have? If so, write it down and examine it in the light.
- Ask yourself: If you knew you couldn’t fail at this, and that you’d fit in beautifully with the group — what would you do?
- Reflect: What are your intentions for the coming year? Does this feel well aligned, or not?
